You Might be More Fluent than you Think...

Welcome to our very first issue of The Lighthouse. Do you feel like you need some guidance in your English learning journey? Do you feel like you want something to start your week off on the right note? If so, I'm thrilled to announce that The Lighthouse is here to brighten your Mondays and your whole week with tips and tricks to help you navigate the murky (dark, difficult to see through) waters of the English language. I bet you've just learned a new word!š

Do not speak without mistakes, interruptions, hesitations, etc. If so, native speakers would never be considered fluent! I'm sure you do all these things in your native language.
ā
Do not always remember words or expressions and do not know everything about a language.
ā
Do not always understand when people talk and are not always understood by others.

Before you roll your eyes, hear me out. This isnāt just another āmindless mindfulness tipā or "toxic positivity stuff". What Iām sharing today is grounded inĀ solid research, and of course, my own experi...
There is a voice inside the head of every English learner that goes:
āIs it to me or for me?ā
āDo I use the present perfect or the past simple?ā
The good news is that this voice has a name:Ā microplanning. Because I'm fascinated by all I'm learning about fluency from a cognitive science perspective (reply to this issue if you're interested in references!), I thought I'd turn one of the reels I ...
