Today we're kicking off a brand new series on fluency (my current obsession). Don’t worry, phrasal verbs are still dear to my heart. You may ask yourself, "why fluency?" That's because every student I’ve ever worked with has said something like:
“I want to be fluent.”
“I just want to sound natural.”
“I know the grammar, but I freeze when I speak.”
Even in my phrasal verbs course, the goal is never just to master phrasal verbs, but to help learners become more fluent and confident in their everyday interactions. With all that being said, I decided to dig into the research on fluency. What actually makes someone fluent? It's not an easy answer, hence this series! Instead of thinking of one single thing that makes someone fluent in a language, I now prefer to look at pillars that are foundational for fluency.
