Have you ever tried to speak in English, only to feel like all the words you know have suddenly vanished? I know this feeling super well. This happened to me last week while recording a podcast episode with my friend Vero, from Spain. I haven't been speaking much Spanish lately, and on top of that, I explained things on the episode that I don't usually talk about when talking in Spanish. So, yeah, so many words just seemed to disappear while I was speaking. But why?

You might think: â€śBut I studied so much! I know these words! Where did they go?”  Many learners think their brain works like a jar—we just “fill it up” with vocabulary and grammar, and then, when it’s time to speak, we just tip it over and the right words should pour out. But here's the truth: Your brain is not a storage container. It’s a kitchen.
